Shepard Co’s founder Justin Allen, spent a decade making film, music, and art before embracing his family’s legacy of furniture design and fabrication dating back more than ten generations. Inspired by the confluence of traditional craftsmanship and modern design and engineering, Allen’s creative energy and sensitivity to detail give Shepard Co’s work a dynamic yet balanced vitality. We strive to offer an environmentally and socially considerate alternative to typical high-end fabrication. Wherever possible we incorporate eco friendly material, product and finishes into our design and fabrication practices while continually pursuing new technologies as they come to market. Specializing in solid wood joinery, our skilled team of fabricators also work with metal, composites, concrete, textiles, leather, glass and stone to shape unique designs devoted to aesthetics, form and the certainty that each piece will endure the test of time.

Residential + Commercial
From concept ideation to design and build, Shepard Co has collaborated on residential, commercial and retail projects in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Palo Alto and on the East End of Long Island. The scope of work ranges from individual furniture pieces to entire interiors and exteriors, integrating furnishings, structural components, built-ins, cabinetry, as well as surfaces and finishes.
Prototyping + Product Design
Shepard Co is regularly commissioned to design and develop a miscellany of product, sculptural objects, lighting and furniture. From conceptual 3-D modeling, material and finish sampling to the final CAD drawings, each piece is fully conceived and prepared for production. Small runs and collections are often fabricated in house, destined for exhibition at international design shows or brought to market directly by the client. Large runs are manufactured in global facilities capable of meeting the clients cost and scale requirements.
Furniture Restoration + Reproduction
Our experience designing and producing custom furniture makes Shepard Co one of the East End's best resources for refinishing antique, mid-century and modern pieces. With a unique expertise in Danish mid-century furniture, we offer high end services in wood, paper cord, fibre-rush, natural cane, as well as leather and canvas.
